**CALL-TAKER:** Emergency, what is the address of the emergency?
**CALLER:** I'm in my car. I'm in the driver's seat. I don't know where I am. The car is parked, the engine's off. I can see my own house but I can't get out of the car.
**CALL-TAKER:** Okay. Are you hurt?
**CALLER:** No. Nobody's hurt. I'm just — the door won't open from the inside. I've pushed it. The handle's stuck.
**CALL-TAKER:** Can you tell me the make and model of the car?
**CALLER:** It's my car. It's a grey Corolla. I bought it in March. It has a dent on the back left door where the bin lorry caught it.
**CALL-TAKER:** Thank you. I'm going to send someone to you. Are you safe where you are right now?
**CALLER:** I think so. There's someone in the back seat. They're very quiet. They're sitting behind me, with their hands on the back of my seat. I can feel their breath on my neck.
*[Call-taker note: caller's vehicle-data telemetry indicates rear door sensors have not been triggered since purchase.]*
**CALL-TAKER:** Is there anyone in the back seat with you right now?
**CALLER:** Yes.
**CALL-TAKER:** Can you describe them?
**CALLER:** No. I can see them in the mirror. I can see my own eyes. They look like mine. They've been looking at me the whole time I've been talking, and they're smiling, and I'm not.

**Follow-up call (received 23 October, 23:58)**
Caller: Hannah, same as before.
**CALLER:** I just wanted to say sorry for the other night. I think I was frightened. I didn't mean to make you come out.
**CALL-TAKER:** It's no trouble. How are you feeling now?
**CALLER:** Better. The car's in the garage. I drove it there myself, I think. I was just sitting in the driver's seat when I got back, and I was very tired, so I didn't go in for a while. It's nice in here. The engine's warm. And the back seat's been moved forward a bit, so there's room for me to sit comfortably, if I wanted to.
**CALL-TAKER:** Are you saying there's someone in the car with you now?
**CALLER:** No. I'm saying I can see the back of my own head in the rear-view mirror. And she's very happy to drive.
